Fortnite Allegedly Coming to Switch
According to an alleged leaked E3 document, Fortnite may be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
The leak originated from 4Chan, with a supposed document indicating Fortnite as one of several unannounced Switch titles allegedly being revealed at E3. Sources speaking anonymously to Kotaku said Fortnite would be coming to Switch. Sources also confirmed to Kotaku that Dragon Ball FighterZ, another title listed in the document, is also coming to the Switch.
IGN has reached out to Epic Games for comment and will update this story should they respond.

Ancestors Legacy Review
There's a spectrum with games about knights and vikings regarding how much they lean into the popular perception of history rather than the reality. Ancestors Legacy definitely falls on the end that would make Braveheart seem like a PBS documentary, with Norse warriors screaming about Valhalla and how much fun it is to slaughter peasants. While it may not live up to its claims of being a "historically accurate" depiction of the "harsh, brutal times" of the Medieval era, it is a reasonably entertaining, squad-based RTS.
The bread and butter of its six historically-inspired campaigns, multiplayer, and skirmish versus AI modes is a familiar and well-designed throwback to RTS classics. You build a main base that produces units while capturing and fortifying smaller villages that generate resources around the detailed, tactically interesting maps. Units are organized into squads of five to ten, creating a level of intimacy that reminded me a lot of Company of Heroes in mostly positive ways.

Octopath Traveler: On the Town With Cyrus the Smooth-Talking Scholar
Octopath Traveler – then titled simply "Project Octopath Traveler" – had me at hello.
The art style of Square Enix's RPG boldly asked – and answered – the question, "What if 16-bit graphics were dynamically lit with volumetric fog?" When the surprise playable demo dropped onto the Nintendo eShop last fall, I was pleased to see that the gameplay lived up to the uniquely impressive visuals. Now, as the July release nears, I played another 30 minutes of the octo-heroed RPG and its Bravely Default-esque turn-based combat system and once again came away very impressed.
This was my first introduction to Cyrus the Scholar, who joins Primrose the Dancer and Olberic the Warrior as the characters we've seen so far. Cyrus is a bit...self-confident, proudly boasting about himself in his conversations. He used to be an instructor at an academy but he got fired. His overarching goal is to try and find a missing tome. His action path is Scrutinize, which lets him get extra information, such as rumors, from conversations with people. (Olberic's is Challenge, if you'll recall from the demo, which let him challenge anyone, even townsfolk, to a fight.)

Monster Hunter World Update 4.0 Adds New Elder Dragon
Monster Hunter World's latest free update, 4.0, is now out and it adds a new Elder Dragon, among a variety of gameplay changes.
Per Capcom's blog post, players can now take on the Empress of Flame, Lunastra, a returning Elder Dragon who has appeared in past Monster Hunter titles.
Lunastra is more aggressive than her male counterpart Teostra, with both able to fight side-by-side. Lunastra can also easily alter the environment, and teamwork is essential when trying to defeat her.
Taking down Lunastra will net players rare materials which can be used to craft special armor and weapons. These materials can also be combined with those from Nergigante and Xeno'jiiva, among other monsters.

Assassin's Creed Games Have Leaked 13 Times
Another year, another Assassin's Creed leak. We recently reported on a promotional keychain that seemed to point to the next AC game being set in Greece, and titled Assassin's Creed Odyssey. If that's the case, this marks at least the 13th (!) leak in the long, porous history of the Assassin's Creed franchise. In fact, the only core entry in the series to date not to have been leaked in some fashion is Assassin's Creed 2, which released back in 2009.
Let's take a look back through the fine tradition of Assassin's Creed revelations through less-than-ideal means.

FIFA 19 for Nintendo Switch Will Have Improved Graphics
FIFA 19 will have improved graphics on Nintendo Switch despite not utilizing the Frostbite engine.
Per Dream Team, this year's entry will look a lot better than FIFA 18 on Switch and the game will run on a custom engine. However, there's still a chance FIFA titles on Switch might run on Frostbite in the future.
"I'm not closing the door on that possibility," Andrei Lazarescu said, supervising producer for FIFA World Cup mode. "However we didn't want to create a dumbed-down version of the Frostbite engine.
"The intent was never to have a one-off custom engine that were never going to touch again. It was to have that as a baseline and then build from there."

Imperator: Rome is Grand Strategy on a Scale We’ve Never Seen Before
The year is 304 BCE, and a scrappy Italian city-state called Rome has not yet begun to even dream of the greatness it will one day achieve. Paradox's recently announced grand strategy game Imperator: Rome will allow you to rise to the challenge of that war-torn era. Surrounded by a roiling cauldron of barbarian tribes, the ascendant Mediterranean power of Carthage, and the squabbling successor states left behind by the untimely death of Alexander the Great - it's fair to say you'll have your work cut out for you leading Rome (or any of the over 400 playable nations) to dominance.
Paradox Development Studio (known for such grand strategy staples as Crusader Kings II and Stellaris) last tackled the Roman age back in 2008 with Europa Universalis: Rome. But while that was a spin-off, Imperator is the start of a new franchise with its own identity - even if it does borrow a lot from the studio's other games.

Agony Review
Agony is a victim of its own ambition. It would be inaccurate to say that what Madmind Studios has delivered is different than the one it's shown in trailers for the past few years, but those snapshots surely do not tell the whole story. For every moment of jaw-droppingly detailed environments overflowing with gore and blood, there are moments of acute frustration due to poor level design, repetitive gameplay, and downright aggravating mechanics. It was almost as if Agony was trying so hard to be a "video game" that it lost sight of what made its trailers so grotesquely appealing to horror-loving gamers around the world.
When your tormented soul isn't busy scouring mazes of flesh and bones looking for body parts to place on pedestals or dip in bowls of excrement, you'll spend time hiding from demons and holding your breath trying not to get caught. Or maybe you're setting fire to doors made of sticks. It's all just as monotonous as it sounds, and the early portions of Agony feature three of these tedious mazes almost back to back. This eight to 10-hour journey could have been cut in half without losing any of the meat by just removing all these repetitive tasks and filler content. It'd have been a more focused and consistently entertaining horror experience.

The History of Vault 76 and What It Means for Fallout 76
The next Fallout has been announced, and no Bethesda didn't suddenly decide to skip a few dozen numbers. Fallout 76 seems to be following New Vegas' lead as a spin-off from the main Fallout series, with the 76 referring to Vault 76.
The thing is, this isn't the first time we've heard about Vault 76, and what we know about this vault actually tells us where Fallout 76 will likely be set, why there might not be any super mutants, and also reveals a surprising connection to the very first Fallout.
Vault 76 is mentioned in a few places outside of its debut teaser trailer. It's listed on a Vault-Tec computer terminal in The Citadel in Fallout 3, discussed by the news announcer in the intro of Fallout 4, and named during an audio log in Fallout 3's Mothership Zeta add-on. What the Life Cycles of Previous PlayStations Say About the PlayStation 5
Buy a hot new game system, and you'll see an even better model the next day. That's the stuff of lazy sitcom jokes, yet there's an undeniable rhythm to the seemingly brief lives of game consoles. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera recently mentioned that the PlayStation 4 is in its "final life cycle," prompting many to point out that the system isn't even five years old.
We may complain, but it's all part of the process. Sony follows the time-honored practice of piping up about a new system just as the current one hits its stride and the competition gets fierce. Yet if there's a common thread in the PlayStation family, it's one of dignified exits for old systems and overhyped entrances for the newcomers. Here's what the life cycles of the previous four PlayStations possible tell us about the PlayStation 5.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon Review
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon treads a thin line between homage and outright theft. Created as a Kickstarter bonus for the upcoming modern-looking Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Curse of the Moon taps into project's attempt to continue Castlevania's metroidvania legacy by setting its sights on that series' older, 8-bit entries. Not only does it succeed at paying the NES Castlevania games tribute, it almost does it a little too accurately for its own good.
If this game amounts to an act of plagiarism, though, at least it's self-plagiarism. After all, Bloodstained creative lead Koji Igarashi is best known for directing numerous Castlevania games during his time at Konami. He served more as a supervisor here than director, but you can definitely see his fingerprints on Curse of the Moon; he even appears as a mini-boss. On top of that, the credits list several other long-time Castlevania contributors, such as composer Michiru Yamane. If this game amounts to Castlevania in all but name, that's because Castlevania is what its creators know.

How Fallout 3 Teases Where Fallout 76 May Be Set
Bethesda revealed Fallout 76, the latest entry in its RPG series, with a brief teaser trailer and very few details about the game. But thanks to the franchise's past, we may already have an idea of where Fallout 76 is set.
Yes, the teaser trailer opens with John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads," which mentions West Virginia, and it's very likely Fallout 76 could be set there. However, the game may extend outside the boundaries of just a single state, given some details from Fallout 3.
Where is Fallout 76 set?
A Vault-Tec terminal in Fallout 3's Citadel gives us a pretty solid idea for 76's location. The info on Vault 76 in the Citadel computer can be found under a section called "DC Area Vault Listings," which is about as clear as it gets. Washington D.C., or at least that general vicinity if Bethesda doesn't want Fallout 76 to exactly share a map with Fallout 3, may very likely be where some of the game is set.

These aren't the Pokemon games teased during last year's E3, but that game, a core series Pokemon RPG, is scheduled for the back-half of 2019.
As rumored, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee share elements from both Pokemon Go and the core series, like the original Pokemon Red and Blue (Green in Japan), and the more recent Pokemon Sun and Moon. Let's Go takes place in Kanto and is directly inspired by, and essentially a reimagining, of 1998's Pokemon Yellow. The Pokemon Company announced that the next installment of its core Pokemon RPG series is arriving in late 2019 on the Nintendo Switch. This core game, which was teased last year at E3, is not to be confused with Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee.
"Now today I can only tell you of it's existence, but it's another game we're pouring all of our creativity into" said longtime Pokemon director, producer, and composer Junichi Masuda, who is directing the title.

Is Bethesda Teasing a Fallout Remaster or a New New Vegas?
Early this morning, Bethesda's Twitter account posted a very obviously Fallout-related tease to an upcoming announcement. The way I see it, there are three possibilities for where this tease could be going:
My initial reaction, and the safe bet, is that the colorization of the traditionally black-and-white "Please Stand By" screen is a reference to taking something old and making it look modern, as was done with the colorization of old movies. That points to a remaster, which would either be an updated version of Fallout 3 for modern consoles (including the Switch) or an HD version of Fallout 1 and 2. Much as I love it, I doubt we'll see a Fallout: New Vegas remaster before Fallout 3, since Fallout 3 is Bethesda's baby and the Obsidian-developed New Vegas is more of a redheaded stepchild. But if it is a Fallout 3 remaster and it sells well, a New Vegas remaster would be an inevitably.

Hands-On With Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion
Splatoon 2 has seen a fair share of free content updates since its initial release last summer. There's no doubt that Nintendo has been relentlessly hard at work keeping the game feeling fresh with new weapons, stages, and gear, not to mention a healthy amount of balance tweaks to the game itself. Now, as year three quickly approaches, the first paid DLC for the game is finally on its way and comes in the form of Octo Expansion.
In every other mode of Splatoon 2, you play as your very own custom Inkling known only as Agent 4. You're on the job for Salmon Run, you're the one splatting away in Turf Wars, and you're the hero in Hero Mode. But, that's not the case in the Octo Expansion - players will assume the role of Agent 8, an Octoling who wakes up with amnesia in a strange subway station that's connected to a series of research facilities hidden under the city.

User Lokkman explained, "I jumped on H1Z1 and instead of running to cover my initial instinct was to build. This resulted in death." Another user AdzziiFIFA said, "Overwatch had a free trial this week and I kept thinking to build, so I just played Mei."

SEGA Genesis Classics Review
Just as every generation needs a revolution, so too does it need a new SEGA Genesis Collection. The first 28-game package arrived on PlayStation 2 in 2006; three years later we received the excellent Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on PS3 and Xbox 360, packing a much meatier 48.
Now here we are with the latest bundle, SEGA Genesis Classics, collecting 53 little pieces of our childhoods (those of us born in the '70s and '80s, at least). It's a good selection, featuring a variety of absolute bangers (Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage) and some cult favorites (Shining Force, Landstalker), though some glaring holes in the lineup prevent it from feeling comprehensive, but this is the best way to sample the SEGA Genesis library today without the actual original console, CRT television, and carts.

We Happy Few Wants to Make 'The Leap'
We Happy Few, which creative director Guillaume Provost describes as "an action adventure game with lots of weird stuff in it," has been around for quite some time in the form of a drug-fueled roguelike. But its stock rose significantly in the wake of its E3 2016 presence at Xbox's press briefing, where it showcased a BioShock-esque narrative campaign. It's been mostly quiet ever since before finally re-revealing itself this month. I played a good 45 or so minutes of it and came away mostly impressed. It is clearly doing everything it can to make "The Leap," like a superstar athlete, from raw potential to polished All-Star.
Developer Compulsion Games and creative director Guillaume Provost explained that over 40 people are now working on We Happy Few – far more than before – and that the past nine months have been spent focusing almost solely on this single-player campaign, which Provost claims is clocking in at around 20 hours long. My demo picked up shortly after the 2016 demo ended, in the shoes of Arthur, the same chap we already know from the last demo.

Mega Man Turns It Up to 11
Capcom couldn't quite get a new Mega Man game ready for his 30th birthday last year (he's really a man now!). But right at the buzzer in December, Mega Man 11 was announced. It's coming this year, I've played it, and I'm happy to report it seems like a fun and fresh take on one of the elder statesmen of gaming. After seeing the reveal trailer back in December, everyone said: "Cool! But he looks kinda weird." True, he's adopted more of a cartoonish anime style instead of the pixelated look of previous Mega Men. But the run-and-gun-and-jump gameplay feels like classic Mega Man, and the new design retains the charm and personality fans expect. The Man himself feels quick and snappy as he should — it doesn't have the sluggish running-under-water feel that the reveal trailer seemed to imply.

Yoku's Island Express Review
A Metroidvania-pinball hybrid isn't a thing I ever expected to exist, but Yoku's Island Express feels like a breath of fresh air in a genre that's felt crowded as of late. It's fun, adorable, and wonderfully unique while still satisfying the things I love about 2D platformers. Even if its pinball paths occasionally got frustrating to navigate, I enjoyed every minute I spent with its charming, secret-filled campaign.
Yoku's Island Express creatively fuses a traditional Metroidvania game with pinball mechanics in a way that feels surprisingly natural. You take control of a tiny beetle postmaster named Yoku, pushing around a ball and making deliveries on a large open-world island. There's a fairly straightforward but cute story to follow, alongside a hefty amount of side quests, hidden collectibles, and other distractions.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery's Biggest Problem Isn't Its Energy Mechanic
The question "what Hogwarts House would you be in?" is still a conversational ice-breaker among millenials, over 21 years since JK Rowling first let Harry out the cupboard under the stairs.
It's asked at dinner parties to friends just met; on Tinder to potential suitors; and has become so trusted-a-method of ascertaining one's character, it's a wonder it's not replaced Myers-Briggs. The reason is simple. The only thing that fascinates us more about the labyrinthine corridors of Hogwarts is what it'd be like to walk in them.
So when Jam City announced it was making a Harry Potter mobile RPG that would "make players feel for the first time like they're attending Hogwarts," the internet detonated like an erumpent horn. Finally, fans would be able to experience life at Hogwarts - actually seeking adventure in JK Rowling's rich world, rather than passively reading about it or watching Daniel Radcliffe live it.

Epic Games Outlines Future Fortnite Improvements, Including New Playground Mode
Fortnite developer Epic Games has announced some new features it's working on to improve the game.
A post on the official website details the changes which include general improvements to controller play, Limited Time Modes, performance, quality of life, and the replay system.
For players using a controller, you can expect improvements to both Builder Pro and Turbo building after complaints that items wouldn't always place or be accidentally canceled. You'll also be able to turn off aim assist mode while building so your crosshair doesn't move to an enemy mid-construction and custom keybindings are coming in the future.
Changes to Limited Time Modes may see 50v50 or something like it stick around after the mode's popularity. A new mode called Playground LTM is also coming which will feature the standard Battle Royale Map but with extended time and increased resource generation. Treasure and crates will automatically spawn so players can immediately drop in on the loot and friendly fire lets you shoot your squad with immediate respawns.

20 Crazy Unrealistic Things Battlefield Does, and One Realistic One
While we didn't get to see real gameplay, EA and DICE's reveal of Battlefield V did shine a light on a lot of details about the upcoming game. It's coming out October 19, it's going back to the series' World War II roots, and it will not have a premium pass, meaning that all major post-release content will be free to everybody.
But along with these facts has come a backlash from a vocal minority around the fact that the trailer and box art focus on a female soldier with a prosthetic arm. The argument is that this detail means that we won't be getting an "authentic" World War 2 experience from Battlefield V because there were no women in combat in World War 2. We'll revisit the accuracy of that last assertion in a bit, but before we do, we have to challenge the premise that anyone has ever gotten an "authentic World War 2 experience" from any Battlefield game.
