Mario Odyssey: How to Coin Farm for 999 Moons

If you plan on collecting every single thing in Super Mario Odyssey, you're going to need a lot of coins. And by a lot, we mean 37,189 coins if you don't use amiibo to get any outfits. It takes 11,900 coins just to get the final Power Moons, and one special outfit costs 9,999 coins alone.

Below are great coin farming spots that should help make getting coins for those final moons and outfits much easier. We've picked three spots that you can reach early, midway, and late into the game.

15 Games that were Delayed Out of 2017

An absurd number of incredible games came out this year, so it seems crazy to think that there were supposed to be even more.

As 2017 began, we were expecting to get games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Shenmue 3, and even a new Toejam and Earl. Frankly, I'm sort of glad we didn't given how big my 2017 backlog is without them. But here are 15 of the biggest games that got pushed to 2018.

Original launch window: The second half of 2017

New launch window: Q2 2018

There's no other way to start this list than with Red Dead Redemption 2. People have been waiting on bated breath for more info - and while we thought we'd get a release this year, we ended up only getting a brief gameplay trailer. It was originally supposed to come out in late 2017, but has been pushed to the second quarter of 2018.

Why Collecting 900 Korok Seeds Gets You a Giant Poop

Of the many tasks in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, collecting every Korok seed is perhaps the most daunting. Around every corner, at the top of every mountain, behind every pillar, a Korok seed could be waiting, along with a short puzzle or race in order to unlock it.

After finally completing the monumental task of collecting all nine hundred of them, your reward is probably not what you were expecting: Hestu's Gift, a golden piece of poop.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI for iPad Review

It's been a year of big surprises on small devices. I was already impressed when Bethesda showed us that you could put something as graphically intensive as the new Doom on the diminutive Nintendo Switch, but Aspyr has accomplished something almost as commendable with its wonderful iPad port of Sid Meier's Civilization VI that makes it worth reconsidering the idea that phone and tablet games shouldn't cost as much as PC and console counterparts.

It's a bigger deal than it may sound like. Card games like Hearthstone and Elder Scrolls Legends have made successful leaps from the PC to the iPad, but for the most part iPad ports consist of old games like Baldur's Gate II or relatively simple ones like Limbo or FTL: Faster Than Light. Lately we've also seen ports of some of IGN's top-rated PC and console games including The Witness and Inside, but Civilization VI represents something far more mechanically complex than any of them.

Tiny Metal Review

It's always a great feeling when I can jump into a turn-based tactical wargame like Tiny Metal and feel like I'm winning battles by analyzing the scenario and making the best use of my tools. That feeling deflates, however, when I realize the AI can't put up a good fight to (literally) save its life. Where this anime-inspired strategy excursion succeeds in personality and unit diversity, it misses the mark in trying to present interesting challenges, and again when trying to frame them with a meaningful story.

Billed as a successor to the Nintendo 3DS' highly rated Advance Wars franchise, Tiny Metal follows that formula faithfully while avoiding some of its pitfalls like "puzzle missions" that had only one really valid way to win. You move a versatile toolbox of infantry, tanks, and aircraft with varying speeds and combat stats around a grid with the ultimate objective of capturing the enemy's HQ building or destroying all of their forces. All the while, you vie for control of resource-generating cities and unit-producing factories on the map which can only be captured by infantry, keeping weaker, early-game units interesting and essential to protect throughout a match.

Note that this list isn't an exact copy of our Game of the Year 2017 nominees, and winners weren't decided by the highest score. Nintendo Reportedly Delaying 64GB Switch Game Cards

Nintendo reportedly won't offer 64-gigabyte game cards for Switch until 2019.

The Wall Street Journal says Nintendo originally planned to deliver the bigger Switch game cards to developers in the second half of 2018. But there's apparently been a delay due to technical issues.

The largest Nintendo Switch game card currently is 32 gigabytes. That's considerably smaller storage compared to a Blu-ray, which can hold up to 50 gigabytes of data for a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One game.

Now there have already been data storage issues with Nintendo Switch games. For example, NBA 2K18 on Switch requires an additional microSD card because of the hybrid system's small internal storage of 32 gigabytes. The same is true for LA Noire.

"That was definitely one of our goals. That's totally all according to plan," Fujibayashi told IGN. "A big theme of this game was that there should be multiple answers, multiple methods, multiple ways of doing anything. A History of Screwups

The game industry never goes without a controversy for long. The latest one concerns Electronic Arts, now in the crosshairs over pay-to-win lootbox features in Star Wars: Battlefront 2. He's right, of course. No major game company has an entirely spotless record. The industry's most popular names all made mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes spelled doom. Others were just bumps in the road. We packed together the biggest blunders of the biggest game publishers past and present to see just how they bounced back— or didn't.

Star Wars: Jedi Challenges Makes Holochess Kind of a Real Thing

You'd have an easier time beating Han Solo's Kessel Run record than describing Star Wars: Jedi Challenges—Lenovo's and Disney's lightsaber-swinging augmented reality experience—in a way that does it proper justice.

To truly feel one with the AR-fueled Force, you must don the included headset (in which your smartphone is nestled), clutch the lightsaber's hilt—which ratchets the realism with haptic feedback—and clash virtual blades with the likes of Kylo Ren and Darth Maul. Suffice it to say though, it delivers the sort of experience that would have melted my 10-year-old mind back in the day.

The incredible sense of immersion is due not only to the cool tech, which also uses a tracking beacon and compatible smartphone running the game's app, but the many Star Wars-flavored details supporting it; from obvious inclusions, like the familiar score and sounds effects, to subtler touches like the sparks that erupt when you drag the virtual blade across the floor.

13 Most Epic Video Game Moments of 2017

Incredible games and excellent moments were all around us in what was the best year for gaming in quite some time. Beloved franchises took exciting new turns, brilliant games delivered unique moments, and surprise hits caught us off guard in the best ways possible!

As a terrific year in gaming closes, join us in remembering the epic moments that made 2017 an awesome year for everyone. But be warned, there are major spoilers ahead for the biggest games of the year, so come back later if you're not ready, and for everyone else, let's go down the list of the most epic gaming moments of 2017!

Horizon Zero Dawn does a lot of things well, but its combination of stealth and excellent action is where it really shines. The beginning of the game has you fighting smaller robot-dinos that are just barely bigger than Aloy, but it's not long before she's forced to fight foes two-to-three times her height. Yet the true accomplishment comes from her slowly chipping away on enemies that are as tall as a house. It's gratifying to watch these robot fiends slowly come undone from her precise attacks. You almost start to feel bad for them. And when that huge creature finally has no more fight to give and comes comes crashing down to the ground, it's a satisfying sense of accomplishment that you can't wait to feel over and over again. – Mark Medina, Associate Features Producer

World of Tanks Update 1.0 Will Be a “True Game Changer”

Wargaming has announced a major new update for World of Tanks will be arriving in March 2018: Update 1.0. Update 1.0 will bring with it a complete visual makeover, powered by an advanced, in-house graphics engine.

Over 25 World of Tanks maps are being redesigned for this update with improvements to water, vegetation, skies, terrain, and lighting. Wargaming is promising the increased effects quality and fidelity will have no adverse effects on the game's overall performance.

"Update 1.0 is a true game changer," said World of Tanks development director Milos Jerabek. "Though the spirit of the game remains the same, the introduction of the new graphics engine leads to a far greater boost in image fidelity than a simple resolution increase. Life Is Strange: Before The Storm Episode 3: Hell Is Empty

The final act of Life is Strange: Before The Storm is so caught up in the interesting question of whether the truth is better than a lie if the truth only causes pain that most other things Chloe Price has been dealing with are hastily pushed out of the way. The theme is present in both the small, inconsequential choices and the path-dividing decisions presented throughout this chapter. This motif constantly challenges Chloe to question her angsty, black-and-white, no-BS views. This episode, called Hell Is Empty, asks us over and over again what justifies deceit and, if it was fine once, why not again? If dead suns can be beautiful stars, can bad people be good fathers? This constant barrage picks away at her resolve and builds into a final choice where no answer feels completely right or wrong. This constant lump of grey uncertainty in your throat brings the story to a deserving though abrupt close.

MechWarrior 5 Makes Its Mech Combat Feel Massive

Getting back into the pilot's seat of a giant mech felt just like coming home - albeit, a dangerous and challenging to control home that I hadn't been to in 17 years… but home nonetheless. I grew up with the MechWarrior games, and am thrilled to say that demo I played for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries makes the long wait for a sequel seem like it may be worth it.

MechWarrior 5 sits somewhere between an FPS and a flight sim, with quick action and lots of explosions, but some complex controls to make that happen. Your mech moves more like a tank than a Gundam, with a throttle instead of simple WASD controls. There's also heat to manage, specific health and armor for each body part, and whole lot of other systems that make MechWarrior 5 an extremely engaging shooter without ever getting too overwhelming.

Not everyone agrees on which of its multiple endings should be considered cannon, however.  During a recent interview with Chrono Trigger's director Takashi Tokita, I asked him to weigh in. Here was his response (ye olde spoilers ahead!):

"It has to be the ending where you lose the Epoch and everyone is unable to see one another, ever again," he told me via email. "The fact that the game is coming to an end, and the fact that the characters are saying their goodbyes are in sync, and I'm sure those who have played the game can share the sadness and memories." An interesting answer, but that's not all.

Cancelled Chrono Trigger Sequel Lives on in Final Fantasy Game

During a recent interview with Chrono Trigger director Takashi Tokita, I asked if RPG fans will ever see another Chrono Trigger game. His answer was interesting to say the least.

"There was actually a time when I planned a new title called Chrono Break," Tokita explained via email. "Though it was canceled before accomplishing anything, the overall idea for the title was carried over to my latest game, Final Fantasy Dimensions II. Aemo's character setting and the balance between the three characters at the beginning…these were based on the original concept

but were reworked for this title."

Chrono Break is the name of a trademark registered by Square Co. back in 2001, but the trademark was allowed to expire and the game was never made. Still, it's nice to know that it manages to live on in another dimension. Final Fantasy Dimensions II is currently available on iOS and Android.

Dreadnought Review

With Saturn looming above me and the labyrinth of a sprawling space station below me, I can't stop thinking about Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Dreadnought's space combat is literally worlds away from the galleons and sabers of Ubisoft's pirate epic, but it delivers the same nautical warfare satisfaction when I pull up one of the hulking titular ships alongside another dreadnought and let the broadside cannons erupt in a blaze of glory. I miss swinging abroad and taking the vessel for myself, but Dreadnought makes up for that with some Trekkie tech like cloaking devices and warp jumps.

That's the kind of fun Dreadnought delivers in its finest moments. It's a free-to-play, team-based PvP-focused area shooter in the style of World of Tanks, with its biggest and most distinctive difference being that it's set in space. It thrives on the same type of slow, cooperative play that keeps Wargaming's WW2 shooter appealing almost in spite of itself, while at the same time adding some depth in the form of vertical play allowed by the ships' disregard for gravity.

Pokemon Go’s New AR Mode Knows How Close You Are to Pokemon

Niantic has revealed AR+ Mode, a new AR feature coming to Pokemon Go exclusively on Apple devices.

The new feature will be coming "soon" to Pokemon Go on iPhone and iPad and can be triggered during any Pokemon encounter, including those following Raid Battles. Once you switch on AR+ mode, you'll see Tall Grass (like in the main Pokemon games) that you'll have to tap in order to make a Pokemon appear on-screen.

Check out footage of AR+ Mode in the video above

Once you've engaged a Pokemon, a new proximity alert system will trigger. Unlike Pokemon Go's original AR mode, AR+ now keeps the Pokemon in a fixed position, and will track how close you are. If you approach a Pokemon too quickly, a meter will fill up and change from yellow to red. If it fills in completely red, the Pokemon will flee. But if you approach slowly and get close enough, an "Expert Handler" alert will appear on-screen in place of the meter, offering additional experience points and Stardust for catching the Pokemon.

The dubious science to be done in Bridge Constructor Portal involves safely guiding a vehicle with its gas pedal permanently floored across a set of clever obstacles to an exit point using metal girders and suspension wires to – as the name suggests – construct bridges. The challenging part is that the bridges, ramps, and towers you lay down can only attach to the level at set anchor points, and the realistic physics system requires that you distribute weight efficiently so that they're able to hold up under stress.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - 8 Characters That Need to Be in the Game

With the recent announcements of Hit, Goku Black Rose, and Beerus, along with a release date of January 26 that's inching closer and closer, Dragon Ball FighterZ launch roster of playable characters is starting to look more and more set. However, it's still missing a number of characters that we feel need to make the cut.

With that said, here are 8 Dragon Ball characters that we still want to see in Dragon Ball FighterZ, and of course, be warned that spoilers for both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super's all the way through to the most recent arc are ahead.

Destiny 2: Bungie Clarifies Three of Coins Functionality

Bungie has clarified what the new Three of Coins item does exactly.

In a forum post, the developer explained it increases the chances a player will earn an Exotic engram by 50 percent after completing an activity. While players already knew Three of Coins increased their chances of earning exotic gear, they didn't know by how much, due to a vague item description.

Bungie also said Heroic Strikes don't work with the item. As such, the studio is currently working on a fix it hopes to release sometime in early 2018. Later this week, the developer will discuss additional aspects of Destiny 2 it plans to address in the future.

ULTRA Rare GLOW-IN-THE-DARK SNES Cartridge Unboxed

More than 20 years after the SNES's 1990s heyday, Capcom and iam8bit have officially released a brand new SNES game: Street Fighter II 30th Anniversary Edition. As a (sold out) limited run of 5500, it's already one of the rarest SNES games ever released. In addition to a small print run of working cartridges, 1000 of the games are "Glow in the Dark Blanka Green." We tested it out in the video at the top of the page -- they really glow! The other 4500 are "Opaque Ryu Headband Red." There's no way to tell which you'll get, making the green copies impossibly hard to come by.

While there are plenty of unreleased and prototype games for the SNES, there are few official, printed cartridges from the 90s that have smaller runs than 5500, let alone 1000. For comparison, there are an estimated 2000 Star Fox: Super Weekend Official Competition Cartridges out there, and the Donkey Kong Country Competition Cartridge had a run of 2500.

Today we've got a look how you can talk, fight, sneak, or even cook your way through different situations in the realism-focused RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Even though it looks similar to games like Skyrim or The Witcher at a glance, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a slower type of RPG. You won't find NPCs with exclamation points over their head or convenient arrows pointing out where to go, so you'll have to listen and think through what's around you to complete its quests.

A Complete Guide to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition's Preorder Bonuses

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is set to launch on January 16, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PC. Before you plunk down your hard-earned money, you might be wondering what you'll get for your trouble. Below you'll find everything you need to know about where you can preorder the game, how much it costs, and what retailer-exclusive bonuses to expect.

First off, why is Street Fighter V getting a new release at all? For starters, it was a pretty barebones game when it launched in 2016. It only came with 16 fighters and a meager selection of modes. Capcom has kept busy since then, adding new characters and modes through free updates and character passes you can buy using in-game currency or real money.

Hugely Popular Arena of Valor Launching in US Tomorrow

I'm willing to bet you've never heard of the most popular game in the world. Odds are you probably don't know much about its developer either, which owns League of Legends developer Riot Games, more than 80% of Clash of Clans developer Supercell, nearly half of PC legend Epic Games, and roughly a quarter of Activision Blizzard.

Arena of Valor, developed by Chinese tech giant Tencent, has a ludicrous amount of people playing it. Its player base mirrors the similarly ludicrous reach of the company that makes it, which recently became the 10th largest company in the world overall. While Arena of Valor has only just started stretching outside of China, the mobile MOBA has over 200 million registered players and regularly hits 80 million daily active users.

Xbox's Crimson Skies Deserved a Sequel, Says EP

Mitch Gitelman, who served as an executive producer on Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge at FASA Studio, believes the Xbox title should have received a sequel.

"High Road to Revenge deserved a sequel. That team deserved a sequel," Gitelman said on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered.

However, Microsoft wanted to have each development team work on a single game, and since FASA Studio was juggling multiple franchises at once, the Crimson Skies series did not continue. "At the time, Microsoft decided, and Shane Kim specifically decided, that each studio would focus on just one game—and we were doing Shadowrun and Crimson Skies simultaneously, and still working on MechAssault and stuff—and just collapsed it all down," Gitelman said.

Cuphead iOS Release Is a Scam

Out of nowhere, Cuphead seemed to become an iOS game today - except it's almost certainly a scam.

The surprise appearance of an App Store listing for the game - at the very reasonable price of £4.99 / $4.99 - set Twitter abuzz that Studio MDHR had offered up a Christmas treat. Sadly, it was too good/weird to be true.

IGN has confirmed that the the support website listed on the App Store is a cloned version of the official Cuphead page, created in October of this year (i.e. after the game's initial release) and hosted on a small Hungarian web hosting service. Elements of how the page displays - such as the YouTube dropdown menu's default language - appear to indicate the scam originates from Hungary, too.

Nintendo's mobile Animal Crossing title has just received a new update, which includes new gardening activities.

After being teased last week, players can now visit their campsite to find a new garden area off to the left where they can plant, cross-pollinate, and harvest flowers. Harvested flowers can be exchanged for potted variants and used as furniture in the main campsite.

Completion of the tutorial should see players having three different kinds of flowers, but it looks as though more should be discovered through cross-pollination and become available as seasonal variants.
