Salt and Sanctuary: Switch Review

Editors Note: Salt and Sanctuary originally released on March 15, 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. With the release of the Switch version, we decided to dive back into the sanctuary and update our review for Nintendo's hybrid console.

Forget about mages and warriors—in an RPG with a name like Salt and Sanctuary, I figured it was only appropriate to save the world as a chef. It's one of the eight starting classes, after all, and thus, clad in apron and armed with a three-foot iron pot and a handful of potatoes, I left the sanctuary of my galley to slay the pirates stealing our princess from our ship and murdering my crewmen. Larry never brained Curly with such vigor. Gordon Ramsay never unleashed such spite.

Parents Are Getting Their Kids Fortnite Tutors

Parents across the world are starting to pay for tutors to help their kids develop skills at Fortnite.

The Wall Street Journal wrote an article detailing various parents and their children involved in this phenomenon, interviewing them about their experiences.

Some parents claim they simply don't want their kids losing matches, others are taking lessons for themselves so they aren't so embarrassed when they play the game, and some are even taking lessons alongside their kids as a bonding experience.

A software developer from Texas paid $20 an hour for his 12-year-old son to take Fortnite lessons. The article cites the father's desire for his son to win a scholarship or perhaps to even make some tournament money as his reason behind paying for a tutor. It appears to have worked to a certain degree, with after six hours of lessons a month his son went from winning infrequently to obtaining much more consistent victories.

Dead or Alive 6: 'Diego' Revealed, 'Rig' Returns

IGN can exclusively reveal two new fighters for DEAD OR ALIVE 6, the forthcoming fighting game from Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja. Brand-new fighter Diego and returning DOA5 antagonist Rig can be seen in a new announcement trailer.

A street-fighting brawler who grew up in the back alleys of New York, newcomer Diego brings a range of hard-hitting moves including headbutts and tackles when he makes his DOA debut. Diego started entering street matches to win money to support his ailing mother, and quickly became known as New York's "uncrowned street hero." With a talent for fighting in confined quarters, his anything-goes full-body-contact move-set is visceral and raw. See his reveal trailer above.

Sea of Thieves Has Sold Over 5 Million Copies

Sea of Thieves has officially crossed 5 million units sold, just in time for its new Cursed Sails update.

Rare revealed the sales milestone through the official Xbox website, stating the number was achieved through combined Xbox One and PC sales.

This sales number was announced alongside the launch of the Cursed Sails update, which introduces enemy Skeleton Ships, the Brigantine three-player ship, and a new Alliance system.

Rare is also introducing a three-week, time-limited campaign, which includes new goals and rewards each week. All features introduced alongside the campaign will remain in Sea of Thieves after it's done, so players who miss this three-week window will still have an opportunity to experience them.

Lords of the Fallen 2: New Developer Scraps Existing Work

Lords of the Fallen 2's new dev is starting from scratch after taking over development from The Surge's Deck 13.

New-York based Defiant Studios is starting over with Lords of the Fallen 2, scrapping any pre-production work on the game made by series creator Deck 13. The game officially moved to Defiant earlier this year.

"It's really a reset, it's a fresh start. It's a new engine - Unreal 4 - and a new team" David Grijns, Defiant Studios managing director, told Eurogamer. "A team which does not have a long and illustrious background in action RPG development, but we actually see it as a strength."
