NES Classic Sold Nearly 200,000 Units in the US Alone

At least 196,000 lucky people bought the NES Classic in the United States since it released earlier this month.

November was a good month for Nintendo, with sales of its 3DS line up 59 percent over last November, representing the consoles "sixth straight month of year-on-year growth," in the US, according to NPD.

In a statement from Nintendo, it said sales of the new Pokemon games helped increase software sales for 3DS by an astonishing "350 percent year-on-year."

The NPD Group said Nintendo's almost impossible-to-find miniature all-in-one led the "retro console segment."

Since its release, the NES Classic has been notoriously difficult to find without resorting to paying much higher prices on the secondary market. US retailer GameStop promised more NES Classics will be trickling onto its shelves over the next few days, but it doesn't look like there's any end in sight to the drought.
