In some ways, Year Four has been a much-needed return to basics for DC's Injustice: Gods Among Us prequel. However, the series has struggled with pacing problems over the past couple months, and that problem rears its head again in issue #6. Only one of the two chapters collected in this issue manage to satisfy.
Issue #5 ended with a promising cliffhanger, as Hercules and various other Greek gods and demigods arrived to challenge Superman's forces. The first chapter in this issue proves a major disappointment because it goes out of its way to diminish that sense of excitement. The action stalls just as it was heating up. Even as the script makes every sign of forestalling the big Superman/Hercules showdown, it randomly cuts away to spotlight characters like Raven and Lex Luthor. In short, there's little sense of focus and even less momentum in this chapter.
