Pokemon Go: 2 Million Players Played Pikachu Outbreak Event

Pokemon Go's Japan-only Pikachu Outbreak event garnered 2 million players in its 7 day duration, with over 120 million Pokemon caught.

Niantic provided details of the Yokohama event - which introduced new Shiny Pokemon and the long-awaited Mewtwo - after it closed.

Held in Yokohama, the event turned kilometers of real-life spaces into Pokemon Go Park, and finished with thousands of trainers competing at Pokemon Go Stadium, attempting to capture Mewtwo to a backdrop of fireworks and giant Pokemon projections.
