Nintendo Labo Lets You Make Cardboard Attachments for Switch

Nintendo has revealed Nintendo Labo, a new line of build-it-yourself experiences that will be compatible with Nintendo Switch and will launch on April 20 in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, and April 27 in Europe.

Starting with cardboard kits, players will be able to build creations that can then be connected to Switch and interact with specific software. According to Nintendo, Labo kits will include modular cardboard sheets "specially designed to interact with the Nintendo Switch" that can be crafted into creations Nintendo is calling Toy-Con.

"For example, you can make a functioning 13-key piano that brings your musical arrangements to life once the Nintendo Switch console and Right Joy-Con controller are inserted," Nintendo explains in the announcement. "As you play, the IR Motion Camera in the Right Joy-Con detects which keys are pressed and plays each note through the console's built-in speakers. Budding musicians can also experiment with their own musical creations."
