Next week, Sea of Thieves is getting an update many players have been eagerly anticipating; the option for Private Crews.
Sea of Thieves' Executive Producer Joe Neate detailed the upcoming patch, and teased coming details on The Hungering Deep, in the May 10 Developer Update video, which you can watch below.
Private crews will allow players to restrict access to their ship so that no random players can be added to the party. Although the option was originally going to be added last week, the update was delayed so the team could resolve an issue which would have adversely affected some PC players.
After the update, enemy player Gamertags will be invisible while they are underwater, to allow for sneaky shenanigans, and players will also be able to exchange bananas, cannonballs, and other similar items between crew members.
