Multiple main characters from the Dragon Quest series - including Dragon Quest 11's hero - are coming to Smash Bros. Ultimate this summer.
Announced in today's E3 Nintendo Direct, it's a little unclear as to how these DLC characters work - or even if they're traditionally separate characters at all. However, we have seen that DQ's traditional turn-based battle menus will be a part of their attacks. We'll update you as we learn more.
We also saw a glimpse of a Dragon Quest-themed stage, featuring a host of Slimes, as you'd expect.
The move is likely a celebration of Dragon Quest 11 coming to Switch - when it arrived on PS4 and PC last year, we awarded it an 8.8, calling it a "massive, masterful, "traditional" RPG that focuses more on combat mechanics, loot, and exploration than story." We recently learned that Square Enix is beginning to work on Dragon Quest 12.
