Apple has revised its guidelines for iOS developers, requiring games with loot boxes to disclose the odds of attaining randomized digital goods to consumers before they shell out the cash.
"Apps offering 'loot boxes' or other mechanisms that provide randomized virtual items for purchase must disclose the odds of receiving each type of item to customers prior to purchase," reads the in-app purchase section of Apple's revised App Store guidelines.
This change is of particular note because this new requirement could affect Hearthstone, South Park: Phone Destroyer, and many other iOS games with a loot box-like system.
