There is an absurd amount of stuff in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Distractions, details, jokes, nostalgia-tinged callbacks, world-building, efficiency measures, start menu options - stuff!
In a hands-on with the game, I was set the task of beating the game's first Island Challenge quest in around two hours of play - I failed miserably. Not because I am a poor trainer (I'm the best there ever was - you know that song? It's about me), but because I kept getting distracted by that self-same stuff.
Crucially, a huge amount of it has almost nothing to do with the core collecting/RPG loop - something Pokemon's always been good at, of course, since the days of berry growing and Secret Bases. It makes talking about it pretty difficult, because cramming every element of the game into one bit of writing means you'd end up talking about everything and nothing, the PokeParadox in full effect.
