With Pokemon Go hype sweeping the globe, more people than ever are returning to Pokemon or discovering it for the first time. The more Pokemaniacs the better, as far as we're concerned. That's why we want to spotlight another way to enjoy it: playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG).
If you were around when Pokemon first exploded onto the scene in the late 90s, then you probably remember how Pokemon cards were everywhere. At first it was a fun way to enjoy the franchise in addition to the TV show and the Game Boy game, but things quickly got out of control once kids started arguing, fighting, and elbow-dropping each other over them. The cards were worth quite a bit, and that led to kids (and adults) ripping people off with bad trades or outright stealing them like some kinda no-good Team Rocket goons. It wasn't long before schools banned them and parents refused to buy their kids anymore booster packs.
