Senator Nick Xenophon Calls for Crackdown on Video Game Gambling

Independent South Australian Senator Nick Xenophon has announced a plan to tackle gambling in video games, with a bill to be introduced to parliament when it resumes at the end of this month.

Speaking to Fairfax Media Xenophon named Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota2 as two examples of games he believes are grooming teens for gambling.

"This is the Wild West of online gambling that is actually targeting kids," said Xenophon, adding these "insidious" games are "morphing into full-on gambling and that itself is incredibly misleading and deceptive."
