PC Gamer reports these DLC cancellation rumors first started with a now deleted Facebook message (captured by Critical Hit) from a developer called Sinclair Networks, in which the studio claimed it's no longer working with BioWare on three pieces pf planned Andromeda DLC content.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Review

A woman in a striking kimono asks a band of Othardian peasants to prove their loyalty to the Garlean Empire and only one — citing a need to feed his family — heeds the call. It turns out to be a greater sacrifice than he imagined. She tosses a baroquely engraved pistol at his feet and commands him to shoot one of his friends. Trembling violently, he complies. But she's not done yet. She then orders him to kill his parents, claiming they drain the empire's resources. He refuses, and her goons cut him down. And as for me? I watch all this from behind a rock. I do nothing. Famous god-slaying hero or no, I know that any immediate revenge would bring down more hells on the sorry lot. It's tragic, but it's also fairly realistic.

Black Panther Villain Killmonger Explained

Black Panther is finally starring in his own superhero movie next year. But for hardcore fans of the character, half the fun with this new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is seeing T'Challa's nemesis, Erik Killmonger, finally brought to life (and played by Michael B. Jordan).

Most superheroes worth their salt have at least one villain who serves as their dark, twisted mirror image, and Killmonger fills that role for Black Panther. This exiled Wakandan native is obsessed with overthrowing King T'Challa and ridding the country of all white imperialist influences. Basically, he's loyal to Wakanda, but not its ruling family.

How Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy WIll Let Me Relive My Most Important Gaming Memories

We always argued about which was better.

My mom always firmly came down on the side of Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. She collected every crystal, gem, and found the secret warp room over and over, restarting the game after every run. I always favored Crash Bandicoot: Warped, with its historical era-hopping levels and time trials that allowed her and I to actually compete to be the better Crash player in our house.

Now with the release of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, I'm so excited to be able to revisit those memories, because they'll transport me to a time that I can no longer visit. A time when I could play games with the person who introduced me to the medium — my mom, who died nine years ago.

  • Don't Die, Mr. Robot! (PS Vita, cross buy with PS4)

In our IGN review of Until Dawn, we said "At its best, Until Dawn is a gleefully cheesy homage to horror movies, set in a world built by a developer that clearly adores the genre." The choice-based horror game later received a PlayStation VR spinoff, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, while Supermassive's next games, Hidden Agenda and The Inpatient, were revealed during E3 2017. Kingdom Come: Deliverance's Hard Medieval Living

With no magic, no elves, and not even a King Arthur, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is aiming for a grounded and realistic approach to open-world medieval roleplaying games. Oddly enough, that makes this February 2018 RPG feel distinctive next to the likes of The Elder Scrolls or The Witcher.

Developer Warhorse Studios says that aside from the personal story of your character, Harry, the events of a civil war in the Kingdom of Bohemia in the year 1403 are historically accurate. As you set out to avenge the death of your parents, who were killed in a raid on a village that actually happened, you join the service of a lord and play a role in the outcome of the war - which is, of course, fixed.

Ever Oasis Review

At the start of many adventures lies a town in need of help -- even as the threat of a larger crisis looms on the horizon. Ever Oasis manages to up the stakes by casting you as the leader of a settlement that needs both your management and your heroism. Your actions in your oasis matter just as much as those in dungeon battles, seamlessly blending this RPG adventure with town management in a fun way. Even when quests teetered on being too repetitive, the satisfaction of building my Oasis and leveling up my characters, simultaneously, made every task worthwhile.

As the Child of the Great Tree you wield the power to create a life-sustaining oasis for desert-dwelling folk. After witnessing the destruction of your older brother's oasis by Chaos incarnate, it's up to you and the water spirit, Esna, to create the last oasis as a beacon of hope and bastion against the increasing darkness that plagues the desert and its creatures. As you build up your town, you'll gain access to shops, crafting recipes, and more. The town's transformation from sandy dunes to lush paradise is not only fulfilling, but gorgeous to watch. The routine goes something like this: Attract potential villagers, fulfill requests so they stay, build their booths and stock their merchandise, and finally: collect the profits. The endearing nature of my villagers and abundance of things to do made this routine fun instead of tedious.

SNES Classics Preorders Already on eBay, With Huge Mark-Ups

Of all the social sciences, economics is perhaps the coldest and most unfeeling. If you need any proof, look no further than the outrageous mark-ups some sellers are already attaching to the only-just revealed Super NES Classic.

Econ 101 teaches us that when supply is vastly out-paced by demand, prices will rise, something that already played out with the NES Classic. Scalpers famously grabbed up as many as they could, choking off any readily available supply, and Nintendo itself only churned out a finite number, increasing the disparity even further. The result? NES Classics still sell for twice or more the manufacturer's suggested retail price.

As you can see from the slides, scalpers, or rather "resellers" are expecting similar supply and demand imbalances with the SNES Classic. We're hoping Nintendo learns from its mistakes with the NES Classic, but there's also the problem of unconstrained orders from online retailers. People used automated bots to order multiple units, causing headaches for anyone on the level and sometimes crashing retailer websites.

inXile Head Calls Kickstarter the 'Ultimate Honor System'

Back in 2013, inXile Entertainment set the record for the highest-funded video game on Kickstarter with Torment: Tides of Numenera, and studio founder Brian Fargo has come forward to share his thoughts on the crowd-funding platform, describing it as the "ultimate honor system."

On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, Fargo spoke incredibly highly of Kickstarter and the freedom it has offered his studio, which received over $4 million in funding from backers for Torment: Tides of Numenera.

"As a creative person, there are two important factors to me. That you're doing what you want to do... but as important is that you're doing it the way you want to do it," Fargo said. He went on to note that when you have a publisher to answer to, you could be "made to do it in a way that isn't with your style."

Shigeru Miyamoto and the Legacy of Mario

It's late on the first day of E3, and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto looks very comfortable. In a small meeting room high above Nintendo's booth, Miyamoto sits under a Super Mario Odyssey poster in what seems like a different, much quieter world than the chaos of the bustling show floor below.

Officially, E3 is in full swing, but Miyamoto has already made his big announcement for the week, appearing on stage with Ubisoft to reveal a new Mario crossover with Rabbids. Even as Nintendo spent the morning on its live show debuting new gameplay of Super Mario Odyssey, producer Yoshiaki Koizumi and director Kenta Motokura took the stage, giving Miyamoto the chance to watch from the sidelines. With such a long legacy behind him, he's okay with not always being in the spotlight, and, in regard to both Rabbids and Odyssey, he's happy to see other people making new playgrounds for Mario.

Star Fox 2's Programmer Is as Surprised as You Are

It was announced today that the never-before-released Star Fox 2 is one of the 21 games included in the Super NES Classic, due to hit shelves (hopefully widely) on September 29.

IGN Japan got the chance to have a quick chat with the game's programmer  (and now head of Q-Games) Dylan Cuthbert about the surprising announcement, the differences between the Super NES Classic version of the game and the various leaked builds that are available online, and the challenges of developing Star Fox 2 before Nintendo officially pulled the plug on it 22 years ago. Valkyria Revolution Review

"Revolution" is such a nice, punchy word. Generally, it's even a positive word, or so we're generally led to think as we're on the "right" side of a bevy of revolutions ranging from the American to the sexual. But let's be honest—change isn't always good. However noble intentions may be, sometimes a revolution ends up making things worse than they were before. And that, sadly, appears to be what happened with Valkyria Revolution.

In a wider sense, the "revolution" here would be the act of yanking the Valkyria series away from its tactical origins in order to create something that's better described as a Dynasty Warriors-style RPG. The approach never works quite as well as it should. Valkyria Revolution has a rather fascinating narrative premise as its foundation, but all developer Media Vision builds on it are overlong, weakly animated cutscenes with frequent loading screens and a merely moderately enjoyable combat system. It's possible its weaknesses grew out of a need to make Valkyria Revolution less graphically intensive to accommodate a simultaneous release on the Vita, but the approach makes the PS4 version I played suffer greatly for it.

Top 10 RPG Worlds of All Time

Out of every genre, role-playing games have given us some of the most awesome, beautiful, terrifying, and fascinating worlds to explore. In celebration of the hours we've spent exploring and adventuring in them, here are our top 10 RPG worlds of all time.

Many games are set in outer space, but few have really captured the essence of space travel and intergalactic civilization the way EVE Online has. Exploring the New Eden galaxy and its over 5000 star systems and 2500 wormhole systems must be done manually, via spaceship. While EVE by no means prioritizes realism, it does keep many of its elements grounded in slow-paced management-heavy gameplay, especially with its complex player-driven economy. These elements, combined with the backstories of each major faction, are a perfect fit for the literal universe that has been home to some of the most exciting online space battles and dramatic player-driven epics in video game history.

As a result, the latest Battlegrounds update will see adjustments made both to address the bug and user feedback on particular weapons. Bluehole will continue to make adjustments as needed.

For the next update, the VSS will no longer appear in Care Packages but will still be spawned on the map. There will also be a low probability chance of collecting AR Silencers,SR Silencers, and 4x Scopes from Care Packages. A new weapon, the Groza, will also be added to Care Packages.

SNES Classic: Will Nintendo Learn From its Past Launch Mistakes?

I'm probably not the only old-school Nintendo fan with conflicting emotions today. On the one hand, the long-rumored/expected Super NES Classic was announced, and it sounds awesome! Two controllers, 21 games including several bona-fide all-time classics, and even the unreleased Star Fox 2. Yes!! On the other hand, Nintendo flat-out bungled the launch of the NES Classic, which was a gimme putt as far as system launches go. What should've been a uniting moment of universally celebrated nostalgia was instead a months-long slog of frustration, unceremoniously capped off by the quiet discontinuation of the NES Classic in April, assuring that many fans would never get their hands on the tiny trip down video game memory lane.

Total War: Warhammer 2 Aims to Bring Fantasy Tabletop Game To Life

Back in my tabletop gaming days, I sported an impressive war host of Wood Elves, complete with treemen and hawk riders. But what I never achieved with dice rolls and detailed paint jobs was the epic scale that the Warhammer lore seemed to demand. There was something lacking in my painted figurines and styrofoam set pieces.

That's why the Total War series has been such a boon to Warhammer fans. Utilizing the units, locations, and lore of Warhammer's high-fantasy universe, TW:W2 brings the deep strategy of the Warhammer series to a real-time strategy platform.

At E3, I was able to get a hands-on demo with a familiar scenario to Warhammer fans: the High Elves, in their arrogance, have messed with forces they should not have, and now have to deal with the perhaps-cataclysmic consequences.

Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court Review

The Crimson Court isn't an essential add-on for Darkest Dungeon, but it does give this grim RPG an infusion of new ideas in both battles and at the town level that freshen things up and make you rethink your approach to problems if things have become routine for you. And, of course, more of that awesomely dire narration.

The most pervasive new crisis you have to deal with is The Crimson Curse, a common and near-permanent affliction that turns your party members into junkies for vials of blood. Early on, becoming infected by the horrific giant mosquito-borne illness seemed debilitating due to rare supply of blood, which could only be obtained through random drops by fighting the new enemy faction; without it they eventually go into a withdrawal state and could potentially die. But in reality, at least playing on Radiant mode, the Curse's bark was worse than its bite. It actually gives a "Bloodlust" stat buff for a time after consuming a vial, and even when you're in withdrawal most of the stat penalties aren't enough to slow a team down much (though it does make them prone to rejecting healing or buffs as though they were irrational). It quickly became a manageable addiction.

Nintendo's Market Value Climbs Past Sony

Thanks to the success of Nintendo Switch and Pokemon Go, Nintendo's market value has climbed considerably, eclipsing Sony's entire electronics and entertainment divisions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nintendo's market capitalization is now at $49.8 billion (5.56 trillion yen), just ahead of Sony Corporation's current market value of $48.6 billion (5.43 trillion yen).

It's important to note that because Sony's interests are significantly broader than Nintendo's, this isn't an an entirely straightforward comparison.

Since the release of Pokemon Go last year, Nintendo's stock is up a whopping 160 percent, having closed on Monday at 39,280 yen ($352), making for its highest value since 2008. Meanwhile, Sony's shares closed at 4,298 yen ($38.50), and the company's stock is currently up more than 42 percent compared to last year.

Don't Worry, Capcom's Not Dumbing Down Monster Hunter

If you're a longtime Monster Hunter fan and came out of that Sony E3 keynote with a few worries about World, I have just the quote for you, straight from executive director Kaname Fujioka:

"We're not taking things that people in the west hate and fixing them to make western players buy it. People sometimes make that assumption, or they've got that fear, but that's not the case at all."

Phew.

For those who love it, the appeal of Monster Hunter lies not just in its creature design and stupefyingly complex weaponry, but in how hard it makes you work to see it all. To get reductive for a moment, it's a distinctly 'un-western' approach - today's action big hitters all tend to smooth out any busywork, in favour of getting you from encounter to encounter at high speed. It makes perfect sense - just not for Monster Hunter.

Nex Machina Review

When a top-down shooter like Nex Machina comes along, I'm reminded that even in this age of procedural open worlds and emergent storytelling, you don't need a lot of buzzwords to have a good time. Its five stages of simple, fast, sometimes frantic bot-blasting can be daunting to the unprepared. But when I got a good run going, the responsive controls and exciting, sci-fi graphics made my frustrations with its sometimes nasty death penalty worth it.

Each stage is divided up into rooms where you have to defeat several waves of robotic enemies, optionally saving defenseless humans to increase your score, before proceeding to the next. The baddies are both visually interesting and clever in their design, and every world introduces new ones so the combat never feels repetitive. Like in one of developer Housemarque's previous games, Resogun, saving the human hostages adds a sense of urgency and encourages you to take risks and get aggressive.

Rockstar Comments on GTA 5 Single-Player Mods

Rockstar issued a statement on its support page regarding single-player mods for Grand Theft Auto V. Recently, Rockstar's parent company Take-Two recently issued cease-and-desist letters to some GTA V modding tool makers.

However, Take-Two now says it "generally will not take legal action against third-party projects involving Rockstar's PC games," as long as the mods are for single-player, non-commercial use, and don't infringe on "the intellectual property rights of third parties."

Take-Two will still seek out mods in violation of those conditions, with particular note made in regards to mods designed for "multiplayer or online services."

In the case of OpenIV's shutdown, Take-Two was working to put a lid on "malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody," according to a statement from Rockstar to IGN earlier this month.

Moss Is My Most Pleasantly Surprising Game of E3

I love the idea of VR gaming, but in practice, the last 15 or so months of it have yielded mostly underwhelming results. Maybe that's why my hands-on session with PSVR's Moss was so refreshing – because it actually feels like a well-thought-out, complete game that takes advantage of VR without using it as a gimmicky crutch.

Moss places you in the world of Quill, an adorable mouse who's got some platforming and combat to do. It's played from the third-person, which is used intelligently in VR; you are in the world in that you can look around and peek down into any of Quill's set pieces – heck, you can even brush your head or hand up against the foliage in Moss's jungly world. But you're never moving, so you won't have to worry about motion sickness. And not unlike fellow third-person VR platformer Lucky's Tale on Oculus Rift, the camera perspective lends a wonderful sense of scale and place to your VR experience.

IGN's Exclusive Pokemon TCG Card Reveal

The Pokemon Trading Card Game will release its latest expansion, Sun & Moon - Burning Shadows on August 4, and we have two brand new cards from the set to exclusively show off: Golisopod GX and the Guzma trainer card.

Both cards work rather nicely together, with the Team Skull boss' trainer effect synergising nicely with the souped-up Wimpod evolution. Without further ado, here they are:

Golisopod GX

Golisopod GX fares best by bouncing off and onto your Bench, dealing big chunks of damage in the process, making him potentially hugely helpful for card combos. That's where Guzma comes in:

Overwatch and Hearthstone to Reduce Duplicate Loot Items

In separate videos, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan, and Hearthstone game director Ben Brode have revealed changes that both development teams are making to improve their respective in-game loot reward systems.

"We are going to make significant improvements to the loot box experience," Kaplan explains, stating that the team is going to "drastically reduce the rate of duplicates that you'll get out of any loot box."

The game director also addresses the potential issue this could cause: duplicates are a major source of in-game currency, used to buy specific loot items. To compensate for this, Overwatch players will earn an increased amount of credits out of loot boxes, which Kaplan has promised will mean that "...credits will be the same if not more without duplicates."

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Sells 4 Million Copies

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was released into Early Access 3 months ago today - and it just hit 4 million copies sold.

Announced by PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Green, the battle royale game continues to gain players, well before its finished version:

At the beginning of May, Battlegrounds hit the 2 million copies mark, meaning its rate of sales has stayed almost as fast since then - something only likely to be helped by the fact that the game will arrive on Xbox One later this year.

Pokemon Go Re-Opens Gyms with New Features

After being taken offline for a few days, Pokemon Go gyms have re-opened, developer Niantic Labs announced on Twitter today.

Niantic has added a few new updates that completely redesign gyms in the game. Instead of being based on Prestige, gyms will now only allow a maximum of six Pokemon, and only one of each type. You can also now earn items at gyms by spinning a photo disc like you do at PokeStops, plus earn a variety of gym badges.

The way you battle Pokemon at gyms has also changed, as you'll no longer go up against the weakest Pokemon first. Instead, you will battle Pokemon in the order they were placed in the gym. Other Pokemon Go updates include raid battles and plenty of new items. You can read all about them here.

Cliff Bleszinski Wants to Make Games About Lost Dogs and Mental Health

Cliff Bleszinski has been making video games since he was a teenager and is known largely for his work on first- and third-person shooters like Gears of War and the upcoming LawBreakers. But Bleszinski has ideas for very different games, including one about a lost dog.

"We have two dogs and I just love dogs. The studio is dog-friendly. Any day when we have multiple dogs at work, I can just feel like the tension is so much far less because dogs are awesome," Bleszinski said during an interview with IGN at E3 2017.

If he got around to making it, Bleszinski said he'd call the game Dog Gone. It would feature a dog trying to make it back to his irresponsible family.

"It'd basically be a family that takes the SUV or whatever to the Grand Canyon, and they get distracted by something and they wind up driving back home to Jersey," Bleszinski said. "They somehow manage to forget their dog — terrible people, mind you, much like the family from Home Alone. Then the dog has to go through all these different sections of dogs he meets the Chihuahuas, the Rottweilers, the Pitbulls, the Pomeranians, and everything at these various, different locations."

Murdering Mummies in Strange Bridge is Better with Friends

When considering spending your free time mowing down waves of the undead, you have to ask yourself, "Can the concept of shooting zombie hordes stay interesting anymore?" We've seen a lot of them go by, from Left 4 Dead to Resident Evil's Raid Mode and even Call of Duty's Zombie Modes. Several developers have changed up their approach to keep zombies interesting - with a focus on story or characters or the crazy weapons you can use on the undead.

Rebellion has found a new approach all their own for Strange Brigade: Introduce a co-operative shooter, add a healthy dose of angry mummies with 1930's adventure and mysticism, sprinkle it with hints of hidden treasure, and bundle it up with an over-the-top British announcer straight out of an old time radio adventure serial. It's a very stylistic choice, and one I haven't seen done since Fallout 3's Adventures of Herbert "Daring" Dashwood radio program. It's up to you and your brigade of up to four players to beat back mummified hordes in search of treasure, and there's some pretty and foreboding locales to explore as you do.

The original voices of Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong will not be returning for the Resident Evil 2 remake.

According to Claire actress Alyson Court (as reported by PCGamesN), Capcom has chosen to use non-union actors to voice the game's protagonists. Following a fan campaign for her return, she was contacted about reprising the role, but the company tasked with providing voiceover for the game in the US reportedly chose to take a different approach.

"I would have done it," Court explained in a YouTube video, "because I know you guys wanted me to, and I really appreciate your support. I appreciate the outrage you had towards Capcom and everybody involved. But unfortunately, as far as I know they chose to go non-union with the voice performances."

Uncharted Series Likely to Continue After Lost Legacy

Despite releasing Nathan Drake's last game, Naughty Dog seems keen to keep the world of Uncharted alive.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy creative director and writer Shaun Escayg said that "to say the Uncharted world is done... I doubt that highly."

The upcoming Lost Legacy is a standalone game featuring returning side characters from the series (and, pointedly, definitely not featuring Nathan Drake in any capacity). Escayg seems to see that approach as a useful one for the future of the series:

Indies 'Less Relevant Now,' Says PlayStation's Jim Ryan

Sony Interactive Entertainment's global boss Jim Ryan has commented on the focal shift away from Indie titles at this year's E3 Sony conference.

In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Ryan spoke about the ineffective nature of showing small clips from indie games during presentations. He explained that the method doesn't allow viewers to learn enough about the games and that "

t is almost viewed as wasted time."

Ryan went on to discuss the importance of having such a reel during the early years of PS4 to solidify Sony's commitment to bringing indie titles to the console.

Street Fighter Producer on How Mortal Kombat Inspired Series

While looking back over the franchise's 30-year anniversary, Street Fighter Producer Yoshinori Ono explained how a competing, long-running fighting series had an impact on Capcom's franchise.

Speaking to IGN at E3, Ono discussed how Ed Boon's 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, with its focus on a fleshed out story mode, inspired Street Fighter V.

"When

saw that,

thought Capcom should really take advantage of mimicking this and incorporate it into its games as well. So story mode has then become a big thing in Street Fighter also," Ono said, additionally noting that he does seriously consider suggestions fans offer to him on his Facebook page.

Inspiration between the two franchises is a two-way street of course, as Boon told IGN earlier this year that Street Fighter II's dizzy mechanic ultimately resulted in Mortal Kombat's fatalities.
