During a Comic-Con 2016 panel for his upcoming film Snowden, director Oliver Stone (Platoon, Natural Born Killers) accused the Pokemon Go app of threatening to turn us into a "robot society" that will bring about totalitarianism.
According to Variety, Stone called Pokemon Go "a new level of invasion," stating: "They are data mining every person in this room. It's what they call surveillance capitalism."
Pokemon Go's app permissions came under fire early on when it was discovered the game granted Niantic Labs full access to your Google account upon installation, which Niantic later claimed was an error.
