RDR, Undead Nightmare PS Now Release Date Announced

Red Dead Redemption and the standalone expansion Undead Nightmare will both become available for PlayStation Now subscribers on December 6, Rockstar Games announced today.

Rockstar previously revealed that the original Red Dead Redemption would be hitting PS Now as part of the company's partnership with Sony in the lead-up to the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2. This, effectively, acts as the first time the original RDR is available to play on PC, as PS Now functionality on PC became available earlier this year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced earlier this year after Rockstar began teasing the game on social media with a series of images. The game is currently

Are Guns in Video Games Holding the Medium Back?

'The American Dream' is a VR game where your hands are a pair of floating guns, and you must complete menial, everyday tasks - feed yourself, go to work, feed your children - using only your bullets, your magazines, and your gosh-darned patriotic attitude. With its Norman Rockwell-kissed aesthetic and a (not unkind) satirical take on the Second Amendment, The American Dream is a very American game.

It is, however, currently being developed in Australia, a country that enacted strict gun control laws in 1996. For many of us who grew up in antipodean countries, our obsession with guns in video games was, and continues to be, in contrast to our nonplussed environment. In New Zealand, for instance, police officers don't even carry firearms. According to Nicholas McDonnell, whose studio Samurai Punk is behind The American Dream, this mental tug-of-war formed much of the inspiration for the game's gentle satire. "

Pokemon Sun and Moon are the fastest-selling Nintendo games ever released in the Americas.

The 3DS games have sold 3.7 million copies combined in less than two weeks, setting a new Nintendo record. Pokemon Sun and Moon have knocked down X and Y from the top spots.

In fact, Pokemon Sun and Moon saw an 85 percent sales increase over X and Y during the same launch period. And overall, the franchise has sold over 280 million games.

That number could increase even more with the reported Pokemon Stars, a third version of Pokemon Sun and Moon supposedly in the works for Nintendo Switch.

Get Assassin's Creed 3 On PC For Free

Ubisoft will be closing out its 30th anniversary game giveaway for PC players with the American Revolution-era Assassin's Creed III. The game publisher has been celebrating its 30th by giving away a new title from its backlog each month for PC players, and it will cap the celebration off with the final game in the Desmond continuity.

Available starting Dec. 7, you can grab a free PC copy of Assassin's Creed III provided you're an Ubisoft Club member. The offer will last for 30 days, which means the previous month's title Far Cry: Blood Dragon is still available to those who haven't signed up yet.

Taking place in the American Revolution, Assassin's Creed III was the finale of the Desmond line of Assassin's Creed games. In IGN's review of the game, writer Keza McDonald says "huge but inconsistent, Assassin's Creed III is an impressive adventure that succeeds in most of what it attempts."

Oculus Co-Founder Sees Long Life for Traditional Consoles

When asked on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered where he sees the future of gaming headed many, many years into the future, McCauley said that pricing constraints will keep consoles relevant for a very long time.

"It's gotta be a three or four hundred dollar console, so you're kind of strapped to that," he explained, noting that hardware above that price point doesn't sell particularly well. "It's gotta be in that sweet spot."

Answering 3 Important Questions About Resident Evil 7

Twenty years on, and it's hard to say what Resident Evil stands for.

It may have been the series that coined the phrase 'survival horror', but that idea is largely absent from recent instalments. It felt like Resi had lost its way, and identity, focussing more on action and spectacle over suspense and horror.

Resident Evil 7, thankfully, suffers from none of those anxieties. It's a confident statement of what Resident Evil looks like today – and that's an intense survival horror experience, with mystery and exploration at its core. And while it may look very different from the rest of the series – shifting setting and perspective – RE7 in fact feels much closer to the 1996 original than any other game in the series.

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards Is First Man to Play Video Game in Vertical Wind Tunnel

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards has a new place in the record books as the first person to successfully play a video game in a vertical wind tunnel.

The game in question was Ubisoft's Steep, and the challenge had been arranged by the publisher to "test extreme winter sports fans" by asking them to "play whilst balancing themselves in mid-air".

Edwards rose to fame in the eighties as a Olympic ski-jumper, during which he bested the world record and became Britain's first representative in the sport since 1929. He made headlines earlier this year for being the eponymous subject of a film, Eddie the Eagle, starring Hugh Jackman.

"I couldn't wait to give it go," said Edwards. "I love a challenge but this was unlike anything that I'd ever tried before. As soon as I started playing, I was determined to glide past that finishing line."

Super Mario Maker for 3DS Review

Just like in the amazing Wii U version, the easy-to-use tools of Super Mario Maker for 3DS empower you to create vibrant, challenging or creative levels using the look and feel of several generations of 2D Super Mario games with relative ease, except now you can do it on the go! And the way it quickly switches between create and play is easily the best part of the experience. But as feature-rich as the 3DS port is, it has some crippling shortcomings when it comes to sharing the stages you make with it and playing other people's creations.

With the exception of the Mystery Mushroom, a cute but needless costume that let you dress up 8-bit Mario as other sprite-based video game characters, nearly every piece of Super Mario Maker's elegant creation toolset is crammed into the 3DS version. Due to the limitations of the 3DS, it can't handle as many items as the more powerful Wii U version, but you're looking at over 60 unique tools you can use to build whatever you want in Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, or New Super Mario Bros. The levels I made were never hindered by the new asset cap, and I always had enough room to build the stages I wanted to make.

GTA IV was released back in 2008, and at the time, IGN gave it a 10 out of 10. The franchise as a whole has shipped hundreds of millions of units, with GTA V contributing 70 million of them.

Everything You Need to Know About The Last Guardian

Gamers have been looking forward to The Last Guardian since the first rumblings began to appear shortly after the release of Team Ico's Shadow of the Colossus. The game is finally almost here - the culmination of an extremely lengthy and sometimes rocky development process that has, in some ways, overshadowed the game itself. We've been covering the game since its first trailer, all the way up through the official announcement of its completion. The Last Guardian holds the unusual distinction of being one of our most anticipated games for three different years, appearing as an entry on our "Most Anticipated Games" list in 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Ahead of E3 2009, the trailer for "Project Trico," the next game from Team Ico, leaked out. Project Trico was the internal codename given to the project that would become The Last Guardian. For Team Ico fans, and PlayStation fans as a whole, it was an exciting glimpse at the anticipated next game from the creators of Shadow of the Colossus. The official announcement for The Last Guardian came during Sony's E3 2009 press conference, during which the first official trailer for the then-PS3 exclusive was shown off.

Final Fantasy XV Review

Final Fantasy XV opens, quite fittingly, with a splash screen that reads: "A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers." Having played every numbered entry since the first, I can see both reverence for the old and a courtship of the new in this latest chapter. I'd like to say it's an elegant fusion of the two, but in reality it's more of a duality - a conflict that reaches into nearly every aspect of Final Fantasy XV. In the end, its beauty, charm, and commitment to the bond between its four protagonists keep it glued together, even when some of its design and story elements threaten to pull it apart.

Prince Noctis and fellow travelers Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto aren't a loosely assembled band of strangers uniting to face evil, like in so many other roleplaying games - they are close, long-time friends, and it's this closeness that gives Final Fantasy XV's often incoherent story all the heart it has. While the danger that befalls the land of Lucis never truly materializes until the end of the tale and the would-be romantic element of the story never gets more than a handful of weepy, insubstantial cutscenes, the mutual respect, understanding, and kinship of these four is fleshed out and reinforced beautifully whether in combat, on the road, or everywhere in between.

Full Details on No Man's Sky Foundation Update Now Available

Developer Hello Games has release full patch notes for its surprise update to No Man's Sky.

The No Man's Sky update contains the usual rebalancing and bug-fixes you expect to find in an iterative update, but the 1.1 update adds new features to the game as a whole, including base building. Hello Games calls it the Foundation Update, calling it the "foundation for things to come," and promising continued, free updates built on the 1.1 patch.

Also notable in the new update is the addition of three new game modes: normal, creative, and survival. "Normal" is the vanilla game, while "Creative" removes limitations and allows for free exploration. The game's new "Survival" mode is, according to Hello Games, a "much more challenging endurance experience."

No Man’s Sky Update ‘A Foundation for Things to Come’

Hello Games has announced that a new update will be released for No Man's Sky this week.

As described on the game's official site, the update will be called the "Foundation Update" because it will bring "the foundations of base building" and "is putting in place a foundation for things to come."

No additional details were revealed, but detailed patch notes will come on the game's log page, and the release is coming "soon."

"Our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update," the post reads. "It won't be our biggest update, but it is the start of something."

Resident Evil 7 to Support Cross-Saves Between PC and Xbox One

Resident Evil 7 players will be able to transfer their saves between versions of the game bought on Xbox One and the PC Windows Store, raising questions as to whether the game will be part of Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere scheme.

In an article about features present in each format of the game, Dengeki (as translated by IGN Japan) reports that "the Windows Store version can share play data with the Xbox One version". In a statement to IGN, Capcom confirmed that Xbox-PC cross-saving is included.

Cross-saves are a key feature of Xbox Play Anywhere - the Microsoft promotion that sees buyers receive PC and Xbox One versions of participating games for the price of a single purchase. In the case of multiplayer titles, cross-play is also included.

Not All Mass Effect Species Will Make It to Andromeda

BioWare has confirmed that not every species players encountered in the original Mass Effect trilogy will be featured in Mass Effect Andromeda.

"We've designed the IP in such a way that they can all show up," Walters said. "For hopefully obvious reasons, they're not all going to show up in the first game."

Gearbox CEO Teases Duke Nukem Announcement Next Week

The Long Road to Diablo 4 is Paved with More Diablo 3

Like many hardcore Diablo fans, I was hoping for an announcement related to Diablo 4 at this year's BlizzCon. In fact, I almost expected it. Over the course of 2016 we'd seen a handful of Blizzard job listings around an "unannounced project" related to Diablo, and leading up to the show, things had been quiet on the Diablo 3 front – unusually so for a game that has had a steady stream of updates since Reaper of Souls was released more than two years ago. And to cap it all off, this year is the series' 20th anniversary. Perfect timing, right?

Mass Effect: Andromeda Side Missions Detailed

Mass Effect: Andromeda's new universe and huge cities are opening up more options for sidequests than in any previous Mass Effect game.

According to a story by Game Informer, the game features "less linear planets and hub cities," thus opening up the potential for more exploration and side quests. The story outlines six types of sidequests to occupy your time in the game.

Loyalty Missions are returning to Mass Effect, focusing on relationship building and narrative. Missions "allow you to learn more about the allies around you," and are not required to progress the story, but are instead designed to help players get as deep or as cursory an understanding of the motivations and personalities of supporting characters.

Square Enix and Platinum Games have announced a crossover collaboration that will feature content from Final Fantasy XV in Nier: Automata, and vice versa.

Early next year, Notics' Engine Blade will be a featured weapon in Nier: Automata, which can be used by the game's protagonist 2B. In addition to changing up the evasion effects, the way the Engine Blade displays damage when used by 2B will match the style seen in Square's role-playing game.

Content from the Nier series is also planned to be featured in Final Fantasy XV, details on which will be revealed at some point in the future.

The files, which were posted by Reddit user Venxa, include clips for new hero interactions, as well as a Christmas jingle, which NeoGAF user Nirolak notes is likely for a holiday-themed event.

An Arena mode could be on the way as well, with several new announcer lines for Athena surfacing, including ones for "Now entering the arena" and "Gladiator." There's also a sound clip, which, the person who discovered the files suggests, could be the loading music for this new mode.

Could Injustice 2 Feature Watchmen Characters?

Characters from Alan Moore's Watchmen series may appear in next year's fighting game, Injustice 2.

This theory is based on a poll posted on Twitter from Netherrealm Studios' Creative Director Ed Boon, asking if fans wanted to see Watchmen characters in the sequel to the 2013 video game. As of writing, the vote sits at 74% 'yes' after 19,682 votes.

While many see Watchmen as sacrosanct, it's not the first time the Watchmen have appeared outside of Moore's seminal '80s series. Aside from the Zack Snyder film in 2009, the Watchmen have appeared in a 2008 motion comic, 2009 episodic video game, 2012 prequel series and most recently, alluded to in DC Rebirth, where it seems they'll be intergraded with other DC heroes.

Planet Coaster Review

Planet Coaster is just about everything I could have asked for in a modern resurrection of the theme park sim genre - and then some. A huge diversity of rides and attractions team up with a nearly absurd level of terrain, structure, and coaster customization options so effectively as to beg the question: where did this type of game go for so many years? It's still far from an interesting economic simulator, and it's definitely wanting for certain types of buildings, but many of these weaknesses are likely to fade over time thanks to the shrewd inclusion of full mod support.

The basic routine of building and running a park manages to be more straightforward and intuitive than its extreme versatility would suggest. I used simple keyboard shortcuts to place, reposition, resize, recolor, and edit gift shops, ice cream stands, coasters, carousels, and walkways. Fine control, such as setting custom angle-snapping and widths for paths, can almost seem overwhelming at first, but ultimately allowed me to tweak every square foot of my park to look precisely how I wanted it, down to the smallest details. The array of possibilities available just from remixing the stock items is gargantuan, and the pool of bits and pieces is already expanding through Steam workshop, which is easily browseable by a well-organized, responsive interface from within the client.

Watch Dogs 2 Review

By expanding on a lot of what the first game and its expansion got right and mixing action, stealth, and puzzle gameplay with handy remote-control drones, Watch Dogs 2 impresses with open mission designs with multiple ways to reach your objective and some great toys to find them with. I'm conflicted about the tone of its story and characters, but I had a great time exploring its Bay Area map. This is a significant improvement over the original Watch Dogs in nearly every way.

One of the chief complaints about the original Watch Dogs was that its "fixer" hacker protagonist, Aiden Pearce, is a bland and unlikeable character. Ubisoft listened and left Pearce in Chicago, picking up in the Bay Area with the much more personable hacker vigilante Marcus Holloway, who is motivated not by blind revenge but by a philosophy and doesn't always take himself seriously. Aside from a few cringe-inducing jokes, I like Marcus a lot more. Even though he and his vigilante hacker gang, Dedsec, are a little obnoxious and petty about their crusade against the Orwellian surveillance state this version of America has become, they're generally relatable.

BioShock's Rapture Recreated Using 35,000 LEGO Bricks

More recently, Rigney worked to recreate Rapture, the setting of the original game in the series, to mini-figure scale.

Ubisoft Addresses AC: Ezio Collection Visuals Controversy

Following the release of graphics comparisons that appeared to show several unfavourable changes to Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection compared to the original games, a Youtuber and Ubisoft itself have offered a counterpoint.

Much of the ridicule centred around the appearance of a (hilariously) bug-eyed NPC in the Assassin's Creed 2 remaster. However, Ubisoft points out that this NPC is randomly generated, meaning limited numbers of players would see the same individual (although we did).

Killing Floor 2 Review

Killing Floor 2 wears its heart on its sleeve—a bold move considering there's no ace stuffed up there. The few things it does, it does boldly and unabashedly well. It's a fast, fun co-op shooter with cool classes, satisfying guns, and aggressive, grotesque enemies, all doused in fitting heavy metal music. However, zoom out from the gorefest a bit and you'll see Killing Floor 2 is also an online shooter with only two modes, two boss battles, and some unnecessary time sinks. It's not a buffet though; it's comfort food, meant to be eaten again and again and again. With that mindset clearly front and center for developer Tripwire, Killing Floor 2 delights on the back of its great gameplay.

Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection Review

Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection does a wonderful job of reminding me how great the three-game arc of Ezio Auditore's life story was on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while also reminding me just how much the series has evolved and improved over the past seven years. But while the frame rate and load times in the Xbox One and PS4 compilation are a big improvement over last-gen's original games, there are some baffling lighting and texture degradations throughout the trilogy.

Experiencing Ezio's life from literal birth to death is still every bit as exciting and emotional as it was back in 2009. Watching him grow from a brash rogue to a contemplative elder remains fantastic, and aside from the dynamic between Syndicate's siblings, my favorite story in the AC series. But playing through Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations highlights just how much the series' gameplay has improved over the years. The horizontal and downward parkour of Black Flag and Unity made moving through their respective worlds a joy, which is something I can't say about the ample moments where I found Ezio unintentionally clinging to surfaces around Italy. While I feel like I was able to forgive these hiccups back in 2009, it's tough to stomach them in a post-Syndicate world.

Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 4: Guardian Of Gotham Review

Episode four of Telltale's Batman series, Guardian of Gotham, adds a small amount of tension to an already very dramatic, multi-faceted series, but doesn't make much story progress while doing so. Jumping off of episode three's cliffhanger, the first minutes are rife with exciting, anxious tension from the get-go, but it almost completely throws that away with poor pacing decisions in the first act.

Episode four opens with the blatantly shoehorned-in introduction of Telltale's version of the Joker, who unfortunately has no bearing on any of the conflicts I'm invested in. A character I should be enamoured with and excited about instead felt like a frustrating, heavy-handed brick wall standing between me and those I've spent around eight in-game hours developing relationships with. And Bruce Wayne's decision to sit by the Joker and listen to him spout character-building nonsense totally ignores all of the remarkably pressing personal and professional issues it seems like he should be focused on, too, which is wildly out of character.

Skyrim Director Todd Howard Discusses Nintendo Switch

Skyrim director Todd Howard says he's a big fan of Nintendo Switch and all but confirmed his fantasy RPG for the hybrid console.

Speaking with Glixel, Howard mentioned that he actually got his hands on the Nintendo Switch. "I love it. I got to play it," he said. "... One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3."

Howard's praise didn't stop there and might be a big reason why Bethesda is a Nintendo Switch partner, along with plenty of other companies. "I think it's really smart what they're doing

Developer Niantic has announced CP adjustments for creatures in the smartphone app, according to Pokemon Go's official website. But the team is vague about which ones will see alterations (including decreases), only highlighting the increases for the aforementioned Pokemon.

"These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms," says the Pokemon Go blog post. "We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary."

Pokemon Go players also will see bonuses this month as a thank you from Niantic. From November 23 to 30, the mobile game will offer double experience and Stardust.

Ubisoft Comments on Watch Dogs 2's Launch Sales

Following the launch of Watch Dogs 2 last week, Ubisoft has come forward to address the game's performance thus far, acknowledging that initial sales are "comparatively lower" than its predecessor.

In a statement provided to IGN by a Ubisoft representative, the publisher said it anticipates strong sales for Watch Dogs 2 over the next couple of weeks, with second and third-week sales expected to be "above traditional sales patterns."

Ubisoft's full statement to IGN follows:

"We're incredibly happy with critics' and player'' very positive reception of Watch Dogs 2, which should bolster support for the long-term success of the game. It is true that first-day and first-week sales for a number of big games, including Watch Dogs 2 and titles from our competitors, are comparatively lower than previous versions in previous years.

Final Fantasy XV Day One Update Adds New Features

Ahead of Final Fantasy XV's release next week, Square Enix has released a new trailer and detailed the game's day one patch.

Check out the trailer below for an introductory overview of the characters, story and combat system of Square's highly anticipated role-playing game.

Final Fantasy XV will launch on November 29 with a free day one patch called the "Crown Update," which, in addition to fixing minor bugs, adds several new features that improve gameplay and "greatly enhance the overall story."

The update adds several new scenes to the game—taken from Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV and the Omen trailer—in order to "make the story and timeline of events easier to follow for newcomers." It also increases the variety of recipes, improves the camera for better visibility during battle (especially in tight spaces) and adds the "Beast Whistle," which allows players to call monsters into battle.

Uncharted 4's Co-Op Survival Mode is a Blast

Uncharted 4's co-op multiplayer mode is a fun, tense, and chaotic take on Halo's Firefight and Gears of War's Horde Mode. But while it captures the same sense of escalation and urgency of its peers, it differentiates itself by tapping into Naughty Dog's signature tone, energy, and mobility.

I really appreciate that Uncharted 4's 50 waves of co-op are broken up into 10 separate 5-wave chunks. This alleviates the feeling that you have to devote a giant chunk of time in order to experience the whole thing, and allows you to make a bit of progress if you only have a brief window of playtime. This method of delivery also provides you with a ton of variety in the form of locations that differ dramatically. The strategies I used in the tight corridors and verticality of of Train Wreck were way different than those of the wide-open courtyards of the Auction House.

Overwatch Graphic Novel Canceled

Blizzard has announced that the graphic novel, Overwatch: First Strike, has been canceled.

Lead writer Michael Chu announced its cancelation in a post on the official Overwatch forums, saying, "While we are grateful to the team for the fantastic work they put into it, we've ultimately decided to take the story in a different direction."

Chu explained that the idea for the comic originated when the game was early on in development, and was conceived out of a desire to share the story of Overwatch's founding during the Omnic Crisis.

Since then, however, the universe of Overwatch has grown and evolved. "While the core of this story remains, we have changed and expanded upon how we see the events that took place during the first days of Overwatch," he explained. That said, Chu assured fans that Blizzard is well aware of fans' desire to learn more about this story, and still plans to tell it at some point in the future.

Adam Orth, the game's creator—and former Microsoft Studios creative director—replied to a fan on Twitter who said they just pre-ordered the game for Xbox One. "That's not real. You should get a refund immediately. Game not releasing on Xbox One," Orth wrote.

We've reached out to Three One Zero for more information and will update this story with any comment we receive.

Adr1ft launched earlier this year for PC and PlayStation 4, with an Xbox One version expected to arrive sometime later. The game's publisher, 505 Games, has yet to officially comment on the game's cancelation for Xbox One.

Opinion: Battlefield 1 Is the Right Way to Tell War Stories

November 11, which actually rolled around late last week, was Armistice Day. In 2016 it marked 98 years since the signing of the armistice which ended the First World War. It famously came into effect at 11am in Paris on November 11, 1918; the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

It's well-known history, and November 11 is commemorated in a host of countries around the globe. In the US November 11 is Veterans Day, a federal holiday acknowledging those who have served in the US military. In the UK Armistice Day is commemorated on the nearest Sunday as Remembrance Sunday and is marked with a national service and a march at The Cenotaph in Whitehall. In Canada November 11 is Remembrance Day and is a federal statutory holiday in six of its 10 provinces.

Game Publishers and the 'Marketing Beta'

"I'm going to get on my soap box," says Dan Ayoub, studio head of strategy games at 343 Industries. "I think the term 'beta', it's just lost. We should just give up; we've lost the word." Ayoub is definitely onto something.

At risk of showing my age, I remember a time when it was safe to expect a developer to release a demo for its latest game, either close to release or shortly after. Before the reign of pre-orders to secure a digital copy of a non-physical (and thus limitless) item, this was part of how developers would entice gamers to fork over hard-earned cash. Basically, by giving the gaming community a taste of what they'd be paying for, consumers could make informed purchasing decisions.

How Minecraft Has Evolved, and the Community With It

My first Minecraft experience was in 2010 on a friend's crappy laptop. I'd seen a few people talk about it - one of my Facebook friends kept sharing YouTube videos about this bizarre, blocky game, and while my curiosity had been sparked, I had no idea what the appeal was. Nor could I ever have guessed how much it would grow and evolve, and the community with it.

That year I played it a couple of times, struggling to build a crappy shelter for the night with vague instructions from another new player. I built a basic wood block house in the only game mode available at the time - Survival Mode. It was also pretty surprising to me that even in that time, a few updates had been added. It was oddly exciting to boot it up and not know what change I might get, and to discuss those changes with the few other people I knew who played it.

8 Things The Elder Scrolls Series Needs to Change

The Elder Scrolls series is one of my favorite video game worlds — I love it even more than its post-apocalyptic cousin, Fallout. With over 60 hours already spent in Skyrim Special Edition, it's fair to say I really enjoy exploring the expansive world of Skyrim, again and again. But it's also clear there are plenty of things Bethesda needs to change, and the five years between the initial release and special edition have done little to quash these problems.

The next installment of the Elder Scrolls series is still quite a ways off, but it's never too early to start talking about what needs to change for The Elder Scrolls VI.

Skyrim_Story I'm an ebony clad warrior with a giant sword, what part of that doesn't look honest?

Dishonored 2 Gets New Game Plus, Custom Difficulty Settings

Dishonored 2 will be getting a New Game Plus mode and new custom difficulty settings in a free update next month, Bethesda announced today.

Although no other details about the difficulty settings or an exact release date are known, the two new options are part of expanding Dishonored 2's "play your way" philosophy. More details on the content of the update will be revealed in the coming weeks, according to Bethesda.

Just yesterday, Bethesda released a Steam beta update to address some performance problems plaguing PC players. The 1.1 update only fixes a small number of issues regarding frame rate, but Bethesda notes, "update 1.2 development is underway and will address a broader range of issues including performance and is estimated to be available in the next week."

Kojima Explains the Ups and Downs of the Creative Process

Hideo Kojima told a crowd at the Apple Ginza venue in Tokyo on Thursday night that despite any hardship, his passion for creating games is its own reward.

When asked by an audience member how he is able to go on as a solo creator after his acrimonious split with Konami and push towards realizing his vision in the face of adversity, Kojima replied, "It's because I love doing it."

"Sometimes it can be hard," he admitted. "When I am feeling up against it, I sit down and watch the making of James Cameron's film The Abyss, which was really tough. Or the documentary by Nicolas Winding Refn on his filmmaking ordeals. These give me courage. I take a slug of painkillers and I carry on."
