Bungie Details Legacy Console Support for Destiny

Come August, Destiny will no longer receive major game updates and content releases on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Destiny: The Taken King will still be available on the legacy consoles, though there'll be limited access to events. The Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner events will no longer be available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; players who wish to continue with these events must upgrade to a new console and purchase Rise of Iron when it's released.

The same goes for live events, like Festival of the Lost, Crimson Days, or the Sparrow Racing League.

However, legacy console players will still have access to heroic missions and strikes, as well as daily and weekly crucible challenges. Xûr will continue to sell his wares in the Tower or the Reef, but some items will no longer be available, like individual exotic weapons and armor pieces. Encrypted exotic engrams will now decrypt into Year 2 exotics, and encrypted legacy engrams will decrypt into Year 1 exotics.
